Having spent much of her career as an emergency pediatrician and lawyer at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Dr. Horsham continues to serve in private practice, working for clinics throughout Ottawa province, including Chadha Medical Pediatric Medical Center and the Golden Mile Medical Walk-in Clinic. During her time at CHEO, she became a subject matter expert in child abuse, which exposed her to an active and friendly community of lawyers. Earning a Master of Laws in common law in 1991, she went on to serve as a medical expert witness in over 40 child abuse cases. An esteemed physician and member of the University of Ottawa’s advisory board and medical faculty, Dr. Horsham was appointed as the university’s representative to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. In addition, she is a member of the International Association of Child Abuse and Neglect. Well-regarded for her expertise, Dr. Horsham has been invited to lecture extensively in several countries following the publication of her books, which include “Accused to Acquitted: The Clue Is in the Evidence,” “The Medical Assessment of the Sexually Abused Child” and “Practical Guidelines to the Assessment of the Sexually Abused Child.” She has also published numerous articles via several professional journals and delivered over 70 medical presentations. Of all her accomplishments, Dr. Horsham is particularly proud to have served as an advocate for abused children and to have reunited many of them with siblings and relatives. D riven by a passion for the well-being of others, Dr. Patricia A.M. Horsham has led a multifaceted career in both medicine and legal service.
