Outside of his primary efforts, Dr. Mannan is a member of the teaching faculty for the family residency program at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto, where he also sits as the chairman of both the infection control and antibody stewardship committees. Adjacent to his health care endeavors, Dr. Mannan is the co-chair of the House of Mannan Charitable Trust in Bangladesh. Founded by his late father in 2004, the trust is involved in various social projects benefitting the poor and those in need of health care, education and general assistance. Deeply involved in civic service, Dr. Mannan is proud to have helped his organization and community weather the COVID-19 pandemic, which involved lifesaving measures and providing personal advice and guidance to his colleagues. Dr. Mannan earned his MD at the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1992. Initially interested in gastrointestinal medicine, he shifted his focus to internal medicine and infectious diseases during his internship at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, in affiliation with the New York Medical College, between 1995 and 1996. He subsequently participated in a residency in internal medicine at the MCP Hahnemann University in 1996, and he was accepted for a fellowship in 1999. Dr. Mannan attributes his success to following the golden rule of “treating others the way you want to be treated,” which has helped him develop effective relationships and lasting bonds with others. In the coming years, he hopes to continue engaging with new and ongoing projects and to further avail himself on behalf of as many people as possible.
