After a career-ending series of tendon injuries, he began to explore opportunities in insurance sales, becoming an account manager for Cigna Health Benefits in 1999. Mr. McGrath operated as a senior account executive in the insurance industry until 2004, at which time he transitioned to medical sales as a representative for Janssen Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. In 2005, he joined Medtronic, where he gained a reputation for excellence and high-quality provider education that would set him apart as he continued to rise. Mr. McGrath began distributing NuVasive products as an area sales manager for Coalition Spine in 2012. He became a principal of NextGen Spine Inc. in 2016, and from then until the first half of 2023, the company provided NuVasive spine medical device products. Today, Mr. McGrath manages, supervises and mentors his company’s sales team, provides product education and support, conducts performance reviews, and oversees company finances and human resources. Under his guidance, Mr. McGrath’s territory saw the second-highest growth of any U.S. region in the company for 2022. Ever committed to personal growth, Mr. McGrath completed an MBA at the Jack Welch Management Institute in 2022. In light of his accomplishments, he was honored with Chairman’s Club honors in 2017 and 2018 and a President’s Club honor in 2020. Likewise, he was named Western Region Distributor of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2023 and nominated as the National Distributor of the Year twice.
