409 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition FINANCE AND INSURANCE At Proximo Capital LLC, James Mendelsohn works to raise capital for their clients, running multiple operating programs to support them. His primary responsibilities involve the transaction process, and he collaborates with new clients, cultivates the company’s investor base and locates the best solutions for the client. His early interest in data analysis and statistical modeling has translated well into solving a variety of business problems. After earning a BS in economics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in marketing at the University of Maryland, Mr. Mendelsohn began his career as an analyst for Procter & Gamble. He went on to work in high-level positions at companies including Capital One and McKinsey & Company, developing his skills as an advisor, analyst and operator. While working as a consultant, Mr. Mendelsohn identified a common thread in his work centered around capital access. Recognizing a market gap for structured capital among mid-sized companies and small business owners, he opened Proximo Capital LLC in 2019 to serve these customers. His first 10 clients were all smaller companies needing help accessing capital for growth and expansion. Initially focused on lending and lender finance, he has expanded the firm to focus on corporate debt, M&A finance and real estate. Mr. Mendelsohn attributes his success to his curiosity, flexibility and creativity. In business, he believes in a customized approach, understanding that each client is unique. Under his leadership, his firm strives to provide the same level of resources as a large bank but with a personal touch. He plans on continuing to expand the size and frequency of client transactions, increase the breadth of their product offerings, and launch new solutions for company clients.
