Cheloha leverages several decades of experience as a proven business leader in the fields of accounting and manufacturing. Now retired from full-time work, he previously excelled as the chief operating officer of American Tool Company from 1985 to 2007. He originally joined the business in 1979 when it operated as the Petersen Manufacturing Company. Between 1979 and 1989, Mr. Cheloha served the enterprise as a certified public accountant (CPA). Today, he continues his professional endeavors as a founding member and partner of CrossRoads Shooting Sports in Des Moines, Iowa, which began in 2014. In his other prior appointments, Mr. Cheloha worked with the Mid America Web Press from 1970 to 1979, beginning as a comptroller and eventually becoming the company’s chief operating officer in 1977. He originally began his career as a CPA in 1964. Ever committed to his profession, he is also a former member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Hand Tools Institute and the American Hardware Manufacturers Association. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Cheloha cultivated his higher education. As a student of the University of Nebraska, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting in 1964 and a master’s degree in business in 1969. In his adjacent civic-minded endeavors, he also served as a former chairman of the Better Business Bureau in Lincoln, Nebraska. To commemorate his accomplishments, he was honored with the Elijah Watt Sells Award. In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Cheloha has largely attributed his success to his dedicated work ethic and the support of his family. Accounting for his achievements, he is particularly proud to have managed the American Tool Company, notably overseeing dramatic increases in sales during his leadership tenure.
