He began his career as a member of the United States Air Force, serving as an aircraft electrical systems technician. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant, earning a Maintenance Professional of the Year award before his retirement in 1988. After returning to civilian life, Mr. Jackson continued to work in aircraft maintenance for leaders including Boeing and Bombardier, where he served as lead A&P mechanic working on the CRJ, the Water Bomber 415, Challenger 604 and the Global Express. In the early 2000s, Mr. Jackson moved into the private and charter jet industry as the aircraft programs technical coordinator for Flexjet.
