286 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING Jessica A. Plaunt is recognized for her expertise in mechanical engineering. She currently operates in the supplier quality engineering department at General Dynamics Electric Boat, a shipbuilding subsidiary of the General Dynamics Corporation. Having first joined the company in 2020 as a senior engineer, Ms. Plaunt was promoted to become an engineer specialist in 2022. In this capacity, she assists in solving supplier-related issues by interfacing with the inspection, purchasing and design engineering departments, as well as approximately 10 outside suppliers. Hailing from over 15 years of experience, Ms. Plaunt previously held roles at Curtiss-Wright, Southern Nuclear, the Fluor Corporation, NuCrane Manufacturing, Aerotek, Thern Inc. and Alfalight Inc., beginning in 2008. Having started her career at a family-owned manufacturing company, she learned many valuable lessons interacting with various departments, which have served her well throughout her vocational journey. Ms. Plaunt initially studied physics and mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she earned a BS in 2007. Following this accomplishment, she went on to Western Technical College, receiving an AAS in mechanical design technology in 2010. She subsequently became certified as an ultrasonic technician at Ridgewater College in 2013 and attained an MME at Clemson University in 2020. To remain aware of industry developments, Ms. Plaunt maintains her affiliation with the American Society of Quality, the American Welding Society and the American Nuclear Society. Among her most notable achievements, Ms. Plaunt is particularly proud to have engineered a quality engineering review procedure that has raised efficiency standards at General Dynamics Electric Boat. In accounting for her success, she credits the guidance and support of her mentors, including Dr. Erik Hendrickson, her undergraduate advisor at UW–Eau Claire; Doug Ferden, who taught her the best practices of mechanical design; and Joshua Summers, her graduate school advisor who prepared her to excel in her current endeavors.
