Clewiston, FL JOSEPH THOMAS FIGNAR Joseph Thomas Fignar is a metallurgy expert and engineering consultant who has spent much of his career working with some of the top manufacturers in the automotive industry. Driven by his desire to have a positive impact on public safety, he earned a BS in materials science and engineering and an MEM in technical leadership from The Pennsylvania State University. During his studies, he became a distinguished undergraduate research assistant in the materials and manufacturing department. After working as a structural drafter for a time, Mr. Fignar moved into the automotive industry in 2015 as a metallurgical process engineer at the American Honda Motor Co. Inc. There, he pioneered a new industry-standard heat treatment furnace, earning him a spot in Heat Treat Today’s 40 Under 40 list. Mr. Fignar entered the consulting field in 2022 as an engineering consultant of Exponent, where he specialized in forensic engineering, recall and defect management, and accident reconstruction for industry leaders in the automotive sector. Since 2022, he has expanded his expertise across many areas of engineering and manufacturing, which he hopes to continue innovating in the coming years. Gerald Carlton Gruenbaum is a distinguished telecommunications expert and electrical engineer who retired in 2010 following over 40 years of experience with Motorola Inc. Hired in 1966 as a development engineer, he progressed to such positions as engineering group leader, senior buyer, commodity manager, purchasing agent, production and inventory control manager, and purchasing manager. Prior to retiring, Mr. Gruenbaum was a global sourcing engineer, where he maintained responsibility for evaluating and ranking semiconductor suppliers for Motorola Solutions. This role afforded him opportunities to travel abroad to such locations as China, Malaysia, Mexico, Germany and Israel. Mr. Gruenbaum was an adjunct professor of purchasing and materials management at Nova Southeastern University between 1983 and 2010. Since 2010, he has served as an instructor of computer skills for OASIS Connections. His own education consists of a BSEE and an MSEE from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. For his success, he was honored with a Productivity Award from the South Florida Manufacturing Association, several Purchasing Agent of the Month awards, and an accolade for good operating procedure and excellence in operating.
