Steffler has found success in his role as an automation and controls engineer at Automation Werx LLC, a systems integration company based in Bonneville County, Idaho. In his role, he oversees client outreach, material procurement, resource allocation and employee productivity. He is proud of his company’s distinction as one of the select PlantPAx-certified system integrators for Allen-Bradley, a line of factory automation equipment owned by Rockwell Automation. Prior to his current role, Mr. Steffler distinguished himself in a number of engineering positions at Control System Technology, CH2M HILL, the Idaho National Laboratory, and JT3. He also served as an energy systems and controls instructor at Idaho State University, his alma mater. Mr. Steffler studied energy systems instrumentation and controls engineering at Idaho State University, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in 2010. Looking ahead, his hopes to double his company’s operational capacity and enhance its standing through the acquisition of additional certifications from Rockwell Automation. In addition, they have recently ventured into the electrical contracting sector, with ambitions to triple in size. Ever committed to forward progress, Glendale Water and Power, based in Glendale, California, became the country’s first utility company — municipal or investment — to fully automate its systems with what is now known as a smart grid. Since 2016, Mr. Steiger has served as an executive consultant to the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority. There, he helped to build three large utility-scale solar plants in the Navajo Nation, making them the first tribal nation in the country to do so. While Mr. Steiger hadn’t initially intended to pursue a career in the utilities industry, spending his college years planning to become a civil engineer. During his senior year, he took a job with Public Service Electric and Gas in New Jersey, which completely changed his professional outlook and trajectory. Now, looking back on his accomplishments and success in preparation for retirement, Mr. Steiger is particularly grateful for that unexpected chance.
