641 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Vincent L. Robertson Sr., Esq., has proudly served the state of Virginia as an attorney for more than 20 years. Prior to his career in law, Mr. Robertson spent two decades in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a master sergeant in 2002. While in the military, he earned a Bachelor of Science in organizational behavior studies from Bluefield University, followed by a Master of Science in human resources from Troy University and a Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law. Driven by a commitment to help others, Mr. Robertson pursued opportunities to work with underserved community members after returning to civilian life, leading him to a position representing indigent defendants in legal cases. The work paved the way for his career in law and drew on the skills he developed in the military as well as his natural aptitudes for problem-solving, rhetoric, and public speaking. Though elected to his current position of senior assistant attorney general, Mr. Robertson considers himself a public servant rather than a politician. He strives to use and maintain a strict set of principles and is grateful for the opportunity to create change in unique ways as a commonwealth attorney. In addition to serving as senior assistant attorney general, Mr. Robertson is an adjunct professor at Virginia State University and Crater Criminal Justice Training Academy. Passionate about education, he intends to devote more time to teaching and become a tenured professor instead of pursuing re-election. When he is not working, Mr. Robertson participates in international community service work, including humanitarian projects in the Dominican Republic. He and his team operate different initiatives on the island, providing education and basic infrastructure, and he is currently pursuing local licensure to expand their scope of practice. Since his first visit to Haiti as a Marine in the early 1990s, Mr. Robertson has hoped to return to aid rebuilding and development efforts on the Island of Hispaniola, and he looks forward to being able to devote more time to outreach work in the future.
