653 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Thomas J. Wohlrab leverages more than five decades of experience as a proven leader in the field of law enforcement. He currently serves as an adjutant and as the chief executive officer of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Department of New York. A veteran of the United States Army himself, Mr. Wohlrab has long dedicated himself to veterans' affairs and causes. In his primary leadership role, he oversees all daily operations of his organization, which represents more than 48,000 veterans in New York, and with 50 chapters throughout the state. As a soldier in the U.S. Army, Mr. Wohlrab honorably served his country between 1965 and 1968. As part of his continued commitment to his fellow military veterans, he remains active as an affiliate within the larger DAV organization, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Following his military service, Mr. Wohlrab entered the law enforcement sector, joining the City of Newburgh Police Department as a patrol officer. During his tenure in the department, he would subsequently act as a detective and police chief. The city of Newburgh ultimately honored him with a Medal of Valor for his service. In his other professional endeavors, Mr. Wohlrab joined the U.S. Mint in Washington, D.C., as a police chief for several years. He is also a former patrol officer for the Federal Police Force. As part of his vocational journey, he pursued a formal education. As a student of Mercy College, he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Additionally, he completed master’s degree coursework at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Wohlrab has largely attributed his success to his time in the military, where he learned many valuable skills and grew to understand the importance of discipline and respect. Accounting for his accomplishments, he is particularly proud of all of his work in service of his fellow veterans.
