Additionally, he has offered his skills as a scientific consultant in the construction of rock properties and the evaluation of rocks for erosion control since 1995, having retired from full-time work that same year. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Lienhart was a hydrologist in the geotechnology HTRW division for the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1990 to 1995. In his previous appointments, Mr. Lienhart excelled as a geologist and laboratory director for the Ohio River Division Laboratory from 1976 to 1990. He originally joined the laboratory in 1964 as a petrographer, a role in which he served until 1970, at which point he began working as a full-time geologist. Ever committed to his profession, Mr. Lienhart remains affiliated with several organizations, including Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. Furthermore, he is counted as a fellow of the Geological Society of America and the Geological Society of London, in addition to maintaining his membership with the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Association of Engineering Geologists, among others. Well-regarded for his scholarly output as well, Mr. Lienhart has authored numerous awardwinning papers and reports over the course of his career, including his 2013 publication, “Long-Term Geological Challenges of Dam Construction in a Carbonate Terrane,” which earned the AEG Publication of the Year Award. As part of his vocational journey, he also cultivated his higher education, ultimately achieving a Master of Science at the University of Cincinnati in 1964, as well as completing subsequent coursework in nuclear radiology and advanced rock mechanics engineering. In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Lienhart has largely attributed his success to the guidance of his grandfather, Wilbur E. Burger.
