Richard Lillie is a public health and sanitation consultant whose career has spanned decades of work with state and federal agencies in food inspection and regulatory enforcement. Prior to entering public health, he honorably served in the United States Navy, learning Cantonese and Mandarin before specializing in military intelligence. His time in the Navy sparked an interest in East Asian studies, and he completed a Bachelor of Arts in the field before continuing his education at Boston University, where he achieved a Master of Science in international relations and affairs. After 26 years of military service, Mr. Lillie joined the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection as a relief consumer safety inspector, where he remained until 2003. During this time, he completed a Master of Public Health Management in epidemiology at the University of Washington.
