750 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT A passionate supporter of equity and equality for all, Wesley Terence Walker celebrates 40 years of success in nonprofit work. He earned a BA in political science from Cleveland State University in 1978 and an MPA in urban management at American University in 1984 before going on to build a career focused on decreasing the effects of income inequality on underserved communities. Mr. Walker considers his contribution to Northway Community Trust in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to be one of his greatest accomplishments. At Northway Community Trust, he played a crucial role in launching long-running initiatives aimed at providing quality education opportunities to students and families. From 2022 to 2024, he served as the senior program director of community impact for The Chicago Community Trust, which is dedicated to closing Chicago’s racial and ethnic wealth gap. Outside of his career in nonprofit advocacy, Mr. Walker is an artist and has showcased pieces at a Minneapolis gallery. He is a member of Positive Space Studios in Chicago and currently enrolled in classes at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Millennium Magazine Featured Listee SENIOR PROGRAM DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY IMPACT The Chicago Community Trust Chicago, IL Drawing from over 35 years of experience, Dr. Daniel Franklin Ward has distinguished himself as a self-employed researcher and consultant. Specializing in local history and folklore, he collaborates with various nonprofits focused on museum management and historical research for both libraries and field organizations. Having been active in his primary role since 1985, Dr. Ward has also authored several books, including 1984’s “Personal Places: Perspectives on Informal Art Environments” and 1988’s “Living Traditions: The Folk Arts in Onondaga County and Central New York.” Furthermore, he served as the curator of the Erie Canal Museum, based in Syracuse, New York, from 2009 until 2016. Drawing from the example of his parents, both of whom were wellversed in history, Dr. Ward pursued his own studies in filmmaking and anthropology at SUNY Plattsburgh, where he earned a BA. Following this accomplishment, he received an MA at SUNY Oneonta and ultimately attained his PhD at Bowling Green State University. Since then, Dr. Ward has garnered a laudable reputation as a passionate historian of the Erie Canal and a leading scholar of American history and technological development.
