In his spare time, he enjoys exploring the forests and fields of Massachusetts with his golden retriever, Maisie, and entertaining his four grandchildren. and remains in business as 22nd Century Technologies. The firm specialized in operations research and mathematical modeling services for the public sectors with a focus on urban service providers, and played a key role in the development of several large-scale development initiatives for New York City. He has consulted for large corporations including Citibank, American Airlines and ActMedia/Turner Broadcasting, and NGO and governmental agencies including the World Bank, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Postal Service. A prolific writer in his field, Dr. Larson has coauthored and edited six books. Among there is “Urban Operations Research,” a widely adopted manual co-written with fellow MIT professor, Dr. Amedeo Odoni that has been translated and released globally for more than 25 years. Dr. Larson developed his doctoral thesis “Urban Police Patrol Analysis,” into a Lanchester Prizewinning book recognized by the Operations Research Society of America.
