For over 35 years, Mr. DeBruine worked for Honeywell Aerospace as a specialist in engineering and both program and product development. After retiring from the company, he decided to involve himself in more endeavors that allowed him to give back to society. Thus, he and his fellow co-founders, Dr. Bryan Willson and Frans Westenbrink, developed the Colorado Hydrogen Network and New Day Hydrogen LLC to push forward hydrogen power adoption. Mr. DeBruine became interested in hydrogen as a potential replacement for fossil fuels in vehicles but was concerned that hydrogenpowered vehicles would be misunderstood and underappreciated. Despite numerous batterypowered vehicles, public opinion polls show that only 20% to 40% of United States citizens are interested in purchasing one. Therefore, he decided hydrogen-powered transportation needed a champion. While such vehicles are available in California, they are not popular throughout the country. Through the Colorado Hydrogen Network and his podcast, HydrogenNowCast, Mr. DeBruine hopes to change that. To that end, the company recently received a $9 million grant from the Colorado Department of Education to develop fuel stations and increase hydrogen power usage in the state. In the coming years, he also plans to continue his advocacy efforts. Likewise, he is determined to realize his vision of accessible hydrogen vehicles for every major U.S. city with hydrogen fuel stations established across the country to encourage rapid adoption. He has high hopes for the reversibility of climate change. A successful engineer and entrepreneur, Brian J. DeBruine has accumulated more than 40 years of success in his field. Prior to the onset of his career, he pursued a higher education, initially obtaining bachelor’s degree in music and composition from the University of Colorado Denver.
