As his skills matured, he later raced Porsches and participated in 13-hour endurance racing events in Virginia. Led by a work-hard-play-hard philosophy, he has participated in many sporting events and became an instructor for high-speed driving at the Nashville Superspeedway and at Barber Motorsports track in Birmingham. The culmination of Mr. Jordan’s technical abilities resulted in him constructing his first Toyota race car, which he used to ascend Chimney Rock Hillclimb in North Carolina. He later applied his knowledge of German schematics to working with diagrams for racing Porsches on a team for many years. This love of racing helped him excel for over 25 years. When considering his future, Mr. Jordan sees himself continuing to work with the state of Tennessee and further improving his technological skills. Michael D. Jordan has turned his passion for technology into a successful, decades-long career. Drawn into the industry by an opportunity to learn electronics on the job, this led to studying electronics engineering at a community college. Fueled by a fascination with early computer games and ham radio technology, he became self-taught and ultimately achieved a BS in information technology at Western Governors University in 2013. While pursuing a ham radio license, he also independently studied spacecraft and satellite communications, which culminated later in a 2017 article published by the American Radio Relay League on a portable satellite communication system he designed. Mr. Jordan later became an information technology auditor for the state of Tennessee, where he achieved his CISA certification. In this role, he evaluates and assesses information technology systems and controls effectiveness against industry standards and regulations throughout the state, ensuring compliance with security, policies, procedures and operational efficiency standards. Mr. Jordan previously worked in the data center technology department of HCA and the Bank of New York, BNY Mellon. Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Jordan takes pride in his proficiency in racing. MICHAEL D. JORDAN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AUDITOR State of Tennessee Mount Juliet, TN
