263 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING Drawing on over 25 years of expertise in utilities automation, Luis Berdecia has found success as a senior automation engineer at Verista since 2021. The life science consultant firm seeks to assist clients in navigating the complex issues surrounding quality and compliance. An HVAC expert in water and compressor systems, as well as all automation work in utilities, Mr. Berdecia serves as a point of contact for customers and supports the company on various automation projects. In his current role, he has distinguished himself as a subject matter expert for environmental monitoring systems. Mr. Berdecia initially began his professional journey while working at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, where he earned a BA in mechanical engineering in 1995. Taking an interest in automation, he pursued coursework on control systems and found the opportunity to work with system integrators in Puerto Rico. Since then, his passion sustained him through various roles, including as a project engineer and sales engineer with Siemens Building Technologies, a sales engineer at Rockwell Automation, a project manager at Honeywell Process Solutions, and an automation engineer at Principia. Mr. Berdecia credits much of his success to his desire to ensure that every project he is involved in achieves excellent results. Likewise, he feels an instinctual drive to support and provide for his family. A dedication to continuing education has also propelled him forward through his career endeavors, as well as his sense of persistence, humility and openmindedness toward new learning opportunities. Looking ahead, Mr. Berdecia hopes to focus on growing the scope of operations at the company over the next five years. He ultimately aspires to embark on a more consultative route, believing he can provide more service and support in such a position. To this end, he aims to pursue more certifications and licenses in information technology and automation.
