267 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING Ajay Chaturvedi is a seasoned systems engineer with more than 30 years of expertise in system reliability engineering and automation. Since childhood, he has demonstrated a talent for mathematics and a passion for problem-solving and technology, which led him toward a career working in information technology. Likewise, he is known for his savvy use of automation and emphasis on streamlining workflow. Mr. Chaturvedi joined AT&T in 2007 as a solutions architect and spent six years as an architect for AT&T Mobility before accepting his current role as a senior systems engineer and senior technical architect in 2016. Mr. Chaturvedi’s career was shaped by his early experiences as a technical lead for Wal-Mart Information Systems, where he served from 1992 until 1997. There, he reported to his mentor and future Amazon chief information officer Rick Dalzell, whom he credits with supporting his leadership skills development and cultivating an attitude of fearless exploration. By 1997, Mr. Chaturvedi had become the principal consultant for Informix Software, and in 1999, he joined Idapta as a senior technical architect. He then stepped into a leadership role as vice president of product development DMS Inc. in 2001 and continued to consult and diversify his skill set throughout the early 2000s. Born and raised in India, Mr. Chaturvedi earned a BS in mathematics at the University of Mumbai and a master’s degree in computer applications at the National Institute of Technology Warangal. To commemorate his accomplishments, he has been recognized with numerous professional awards for his creative process applications, including honors from DMS Inc. for automating the company’s message broadcasting system and a Paradigm Buster Award from Wal-Mart. Mr. Chaturvedi credits his long-term success to his focus on open communication and leadership by example.
