269 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING With over 40 years of experience in command, control and communications, Robert Irving Desourdis’ career has hinged on the art of collaboration — persuading people to work together and developing methodologies to achieve objectives creatively. Likewise talented at systems engineering and integration, as well as business development, he serves as a master solution architect at Desourdis Collaboration LLC, a one-man consultation firm that works on behalf of companies engaged in government contracts. The company has also produced over 15 books on wireless technology, human collaboration and homeland security, including the Homeland Security and Safety Series, published via NOVA Science Publishers. Mr. Desourdis initially studied at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a BS in mathematics in 1977 and an MEE in 1979. Following this accomplishment, he went on to attain an MS in technology and policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980. He has since presented extensively on his areas of expertise, written 18 books, and contributed to the publication of numerous technical articles, many of which have appeared in professional journals. Prior to his current endeavors, Mr. Desourdis worked for over three decades in public safety and radio communications, during which time he operated on behalf of such organizations as Signatron, CACI Inc., and the Science Applications International Corporation. Throughout this period, his mathematical and modeling work, as well as his experience, were highly valued. Outside of his primary career pursuits, Mr. Desourdis is an active member of the National American Italian Foundation, through which he is involved with the Italy Project. The virtual and physical initiative seeks to memorialize the effects of World War II on the nation of Italy, as well as the country’s contributions to human civilization. Mr. Desourdis attributes his success to his creative approach to achieving important objectives. In the coming years, he hopes to finalize the Italy Project’s collaboration with several prominent organizations and continue exemplifying the importance of human collaboration.
