271 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and graduated there in 1998. Additionally, he holds certificates in drafting, sign-painting, management information systems, web development, primavera trainer, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, OSHA-30, and stormwater pollution prevention. Additionally, he completed relevant coursework in Arctic engineering at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is a registered civil engineer in Canada and Nevada. At UBC, Mr. Flynn worked in the Civil Materials Laboratory testing concrete, shotcrete, and specialty fiber and mix-additives for and alongside graduate students completing their thesis research. Prior to graduation, he took a job as an EIT and estimator for Coast Steel Fabricators, a world-renowned fabrication and engineering company specializing in major telescope-dome structures and theme park rides. Mr. Flynn’s work at Coast Steel led to Primavera software skills development, culminating in the completion of P6 and Expedition Train-theTrainer programs in 2008. These skills pulled him away from engineering for a decade and allowed him to work on the North Slope, Pogo Gold Mine and missile defense in Alaska. Mr. Flynn eventually transitioned back to engineering in an attempt to gain professional registration. He worked in engineering capacities and as a project manager, quality control manager, and MDA and Garrison civil engineer at Fort Greely, Alaska, from 2013 to 2021. His current role as an asphalt and quarry quality control manager for Holcim tie-back to his five years of hard rock mining technical support at Westmin in Canada. His positions with the Department of Defense required special permissions and security clearance to participate. Mr. Flynn plans to continue influencing engineering and national defense in United States and Canada with hopes to teach or lecture in the future. David John Flynn’s career has excelled as an engineer, project manager, quality control manager, scheduler and mining technician on major infrastructure, mining, petroleum and national defense projects in the United States and Canada.
