While at Sony, Dr. Orr contributed to finalizing the PlayStation 3 and other popular technological commodities. Employed at Samsung for 12 years, he developed several products, including the vacuum insulation panel used in Samsung refrigerator installation. To commemorate his accomplishments, Dr. Orr has been honored with several accolades. Most notably, Samsung recognized him with an Outstanding Engineer Award. In light of his fulfilling career, he largely attributes his success to his creativity and sincere passion for engineering. Looking to the future, Dr. Orr aims to continue contributing to STMicroelectronics through technological innovation and the creation of profitable products. Possessing a dedicated work ethic, he plans to remain with his industry for many years to come. An accomplished engineer, Dr. SeungJin “Jean” Oh Orr has established himself as an outstanding contributor to his field. Following his interest in physics during high school, he pursued degrees in material science — a division of engineering — receiving a Bachelor of Science from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 1992. In conclusion of his academic pursuits, he ultimately achieved a PhD in electrochemistry, materials science and engineering at his alma mater in 1998. After receiving his doctorate, Dr. Orr became a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) postdoctoral fellow at Kyushu University in Kyushu, Japan. During his time in the program, he was introduced to the island’s technology industry. He subsequently served as a senior engineer with Sony Semiconductor Kyushu between 2003 and 2005 after working for SK Hynix Semiconductor as a senior process engineer from 1999 to 2002. Since 2019, Dr. Orr has served as a senior staff engineer at STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductor technology.
