224 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION With more than 20 years to his credit in the fields of international criminal law, human rights, bioethics, and constitutional and health care law, Morse H. Tan has garnered acclaim as the dean of the Liberty University School of Law since 2022. Notable for being the second Korean-American to helm a law school in the nation’s history, Mr. Tan bears responsibility for all administrative aspects of the school’s operation, be it hiring personnel, leading meetings or representing the institution before the media. In this role, he leverages a wealth of experience accrued from professorships and visiting scholarships at the Northern Illinois University College of Law, the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, the Florida Coastal School of Law, the University of St. Thomas School of Law, the University of Texas at Austin and the Handong International Law School. Outside of his work in academia, Mr. Tan served as the first AsianAmerican ambassador-at-large in U.S. history, and he was hailed as a champion for global criminal justice from 2019 to 2021. In this capacity, he traveled abroad to a number of countries, including Rwanda, Syria, Iraq, Sri Lanka, North Korea and Kosovo, among others, to prevent, mitigate and hold accountable those who have committed such grave atrocities as genocide, war crimes and general crimes against humanity. For this and many other accomplishments, he was named as the Korean-American of the Year and an Emerging Leader by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and he has been sought as a contributor to legal publications and a public speaker at the Cornell Law School, the Tiffany Memorial Lecture and the National Press Club. After first studying at Stanford University, Mr. Tan went on to attend Wheaton College, where he earned a BA in theological studies in 1997. Following this accomplishment, he received an MA in interdisciplinary studied at the Wheaton Graduate School during the following year.
