230 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Leveraging over five decades of excellence in the field of education, Susan C. Troupe has most recently found success as a state advisor for HOSA-Future Health Professionals at the Connecticut State Department of Education. In this role, she provides oversight for various academic institutions throughout the state, including Yale University, the University of Connecticut, the University of New Haven and the University of Hartford. Working with local advisors, many of whom oversee their own chapters, she helps organize annual state conferences and engages in biannual meetings with HOSA executives. Having earned a BA in elementary education at Augsburg University in 1971, Ms. Troupe joined her alma mater’s special program, through which she played a key role in organizing tailored excursions for students to a diverse range of settings, including prisons, residencies for disabled people, and senior citizen homes. Furthermore, she facilitated colearning sessions, engaging students and participants from these diverse environments, including inmates and guards. After working with several nonprofit organizations, Ms. Troupe entered the field of education with a determination to instigate reforms, driven by her belief that the system often failed to cater to the unique needs of individuals, instead resembling a standardized approach. During her tenure of more than 25 years as a school-to-career coordinator and counselor at Brookfield High School, Ms. Troupe provided guidance and support to a student body of over 1,200 individuals spanning grades nine through 12. In this role, which only she held within her district, she successfully facilitated community engagement and fostered the professional growth of the school's student body. Her responsibilities encompassed assisting students in delineating their post-high school aspirations. Well-regarded for her extensive advocacy on behalf of the unemployed, Ms. Troupe has received a great deal of media coverage for her efforts, including interviews with local, state and national outlets spanning the print, radio and television mediums. These have included renowned publications like the New York Times, Baltimore Sun and Prevention Magazine. She has also made two appearances on “The Phil Donahue Show,” where she spoke on the issue of unemployment in the United States. Millennium Magazine Featured Listee SUSAN C.
