She also worked from 2010 to 2021 as a Westchester County coordinator for the Unsealed Initiative, a nonprofit group that advocates for equal rights in adoption law. Ms. Warshaw first sought an education at SUNY Purchase, from which she earned a BA in 1984. Following this accomplishment, she pursued coursework in creative design at San Jose State University and at the University of Arizona, where she received a second BA. In accounting for her success, Ms. Warshaw credits her curiosity, drive and intelligence, as well as the love and support she has received from her family. In addition to the aforementioned memoir, she is the author of a children’s book, “Catty Pillar Counts to School,” and she is the loving mother of two children. Looking to the future, Ms. Warshaw aspires to continue advocating for the rights of adoptees. Highly acclaimed for her passion and artistic prowess, Melinda Warshaw has served as the owner of Melindanne Designs since 2003. In this role, she has demonstrated her artistic talent and entrepreneurial spirit by designing handmade cards, each of which depicts lovingly rendered collages or painted scenes that fall under a number of genres, including realism and abstractionism. Outside of these endeavors, Ms. Warshaw previously worked on behalf of the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services in New York as a private flute and art teacher from 2002 to 2007. Throughout this period, she shared her experience in music, drawing and painting to numerous students. In addition to her primary efforts, Ms. Warshaw has earned distinction as a tireless advocate for adoptee rights. As an adoptee herself, she struggled with self-expression under her adoptive parents — experiences she would later set to paper with the publishing of “A Legitimate Life: A Forbidden Journey of Self-Discovery,” her 2012 memoir that traces her path to discovering the identity of her birth parents. Grateful to have been reunited with her biological family, Ms. Warshaw has since lobbied on behalf of MELINDA WARSHAW OWNER Melindanne Designs South Salem, NY
