105 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Well-regarded for her contributions to the advancement of creativity and the arts, Nancy L. Yang has distinguished herself through her role at the Pastel Association of Taiwan, where she served as president from 2012 to 2019. Now active as a coordinator, she has managed the association’s international shows in the United States, Europe, Japan and Taiwan for several years. Ms. Yang previously coordinated the International Pastel Exhibition in Taiwan from 2014 to 2017, which stands as a particular point of pride in her professional journey. Previously active in academia as a member of the staff at SUNY Purchase, Ms. Yang has found success as an artist in her own right. Bearing a wealth of talent in pastel painting, her work is notable for its synergy between the Chinese values of natural beauty and a traditional Western medium. Having displayed her creations at numerous exhibitions, she is particularly proud to have won an award at the 108th Annual Exhibition of the Allied Artists of America for her painting, “Bountiful X,” which was also shown at the Salmagundi Club in New York in 2021. She also received the Allen J. Smith Memorial Award via the American Artists Professional League in 2015 and the Richard Pionk Memorial Award in 2014. Ms. Yang’s body of work also includes “Sand Play,” “Pink Rose,” “Repulse II,” and “First Snow,” as well as many others that can be viewed on her personal website. She initially studied at the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of California Berkeley, earning a BA and an MA in 1970 and 1971, respectively. Following her graduation, she subsequently received further training at the Daniel Greene Workshop in 1998 and 2000, as well as at the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, the Jason Chang Workshop and the Katonah Arts Center. Ms. Yang attributes her success to her great teachers, as well as her propensity for hard work and passion for doing what she truly loves. NANCY L.
