125 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition BUSINESS SERVICES, CONSULTING AND HUMAN RESOURCES Gloria Mignon Batey is a business development, management and training expert who brings more than 30 years of expertise to her current role as director of community engagement for Bally’s Chicago. Inspired by her parents’ civic involvement and dedication to the community, she developed an interest in education and training that led her to a career in corporate learning and development for Xerox. She pursued additional higher education in her 40s, graduating with honors from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts in instructional design and adult learning and a master’s degree in community-based learning. Ms. Batey spent more than a decade working with LexisNexis as a business applications and government solutions consultant and continued to offer training and development consulting to clients, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and Northern Trust Corporation through the 2010s. She is also the former ERP change management program manager for the state of Illinois. In 2023, she joined Bally’s Chicago, where she merges her diverse backgrounds and emphasis on philanthropy to develop nonprofit partnerships. In addition to her work at Bally’s Chicago, Ms. Batey is the founder and executive director of BELTS ED NFP. The nonprofit organization focuses on disrupting the cycle of gun violence and economic disempowerment by offering participants job skills training and social support. She considers its creation to be her greatest accomplishment and plans to continue building the organization and expanding its reach over the next decade, particularly after she retires. In light of her fulfilling career, Ms. Batey credits Dr. Mica Battle for her instrumental role in helping to secure funding and create a plan for her program at Bally’s Chicago. Looking to the future, she hopes to increase her impact on her community and clients.
