Hartz, CPA, is an independent accountant and entrepreneur celebrating over 30 years of success in her field. Since 1997, she has worked with clients as the owner of her independent firm, Ann M. Hartz CPA and Associates. Her practice specializes in small business accounting and taxes, including individualized consulting with first-time and prospective entrepreneurs and support for the initial stages of small business growth. The business has been recognized with several awards, including being named the 2022 Des Moines People’s Choice Best Tax Service and the Iowa Living 2023 Favorite Urbandale Accounting Firm. Likewise, Ms. Hartz was voted Northwestern Polk County’s Favorite CPA in 2022. Ms. Hartz credits her success and the growth of her company to her people skills — a rarity in her field — and her tenacity and honesty when working with clients. Prior to beginning her vocational journey, she pursued a formal education, studying at William Penn University and earning a Bachelor of Arts in accounting with a minor in economics in 1992. Not long afterward, she became a fully certified public accountant. Ever committed to constant improvement and maintaining high professional standards, Ms. Hartz is also a member of the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers, Business Network International and the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce. In addition to her work with her firm, Ms. Hartz has served as a senior financial analyst for Iowa Health Systems and has contracted with numerous industry-leading companies. Her early contract work served as the initial spark that led to the creation of her business, and she considers being a business owner and helping her business grow to be her greatest accomplishments.
