In recognition of his accomplishments, Dr. Avetisyan has been presented with numerous accolades, including from the American Coal Ash Association and the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management. Looking ahead, he hopes to establish a construction management program at California State University, and he is currently focused on expanding partnerships with industry leaders. He is grateful to his family and his academic and professional mentors for fostering his growth, and he advises others that personal development comes from pushing themselves to the limits of their abilities. For over 20 years, Dr. Hakob G. Avetisyan has distinguished himself as a professor and industry leader in construction, engineering and management. He entered the construction industry in the 1990s, operating internationally as a foreman and engineer through the early 2000s. After earning an MEng in tunnels and bridges and a doctorate in civil and industrial systems at Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction, he continued his education at Ohio University. There, he was a research assistant for three years while completing two additional MS degrees in environmental studies and civil engineering. Dr. Avetisyan ultimately achieved a PhD in project management for civil and environmental engineering at the University of Maryland in 2013, where he became a research and teaching assistant and instructor. Dr. Avetisyan joined California State University, Fullerton in 2013, rising from assistant professor to associate professor in 2019 and serving as a program coordinator and faculty advisor for several student chapters. He taught concurrently at the Irvine Institute of Technology between 2016 and 2018 and has been published extensively throughout his career. He has contributed to HAKOB G.
