PROFESSOR EMERITUS The University of Mississippi Oxford, MS Drawing on more than five decades of practiced expertise, Dr. Michael V. Namorato Jr. has cultivated a career of excellence as a proven leader in the field of education. Now retired from full-time teaching duties, he previously served as a professor at The University of Mississippi from 1998 to 2013. He originally joined the college in 1973 as an assistant professor, a position he maintained until 1983. Additionally, he operated as an associate professor from 1974 to 1998. Today, Dr. Namorato maintains the honorary title of professor emeritus at the institution. Before offering his skills as an educator to students in Mississippi, Dr. Namorato excelled as an instructor at Michigan State University between 1971 and 1973, having also previously worked as a graduate student assistant at the school from 1969 to 1971. During his own academic pursuits at the university, he achieved a Master of Arts in American history in 1970 and a PhD in 1975. Additionally, Dr. Namorato has participated in studies in biblical Hebrew and Greek at the Israeli Institute of Biblical Studies, as part of the Rosen School of Hebrew, which he aims to complete in the coming years. Throughout his time in the field, Dr. Namorato has specialized in guiding his students in American history, economics and statistics. To wit, he maintains a particular affinity for 20th century American history. Furthermore, he has conducted numerous studies into the lives and works of many modern popes. Alongside his other academic credentials and specialties, Dr. Namorato also boasts pertinent certification in statistical analysis from the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, in connection with the University of Michigan. Adjacent to his primary professional endeavors, Dr. Namorato has long dedicated himself to various civic-minded causes. Chief among these has been his work as a church teacher at his local St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, where he has volunteered since 1975. Likewise, he continues to volunteer his time with organizations such as The American National Red Cross, and he is a former fellow of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.
