209 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition EDUCATION Sandra L. Morrey enjoyed a fulfilling career in education and computer programming that spanned over 35 years. Motivated by her desire to help children, she guided elementary school students in achieving greater proficiency in mathematics, science and history, as well as building skills that would help them become productive members of society. Beginning her career in education during the mid-1960s, Ms. Morrey predominantly worked as a teacher throughout California, after which she transferred to Germany, where she taught the children of members of the United States Armed Forces for several years. After returning to the U.S., Ms. Morrey retired from education and began working in various roles at Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC and Steelcase Inc., where she served as a computer systems analyst. After spending several more years as an independent computer consultant for IBM Midrange computers, she fully retired from her work in the technology sector. In more recent years, Ms. Morrey focuses much of her time and efforts on her chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she heads the local Wreaths for Veterans project, which has produced more than 350 handmade Christmas wreaths for placement in a cemetery in Sacramento, California. Proud of her Masonic heritage — extending to her two greatgrandfathers, both of whom were master masons in the 1880s — she is also active with the Daughters of the Nile, and she is a former member of the Job’s Daughters International youth organization. Ms. Morrey attributes her success to her parents, who instilled in her the value of hard work. Among her most cherished accomplishments, she is particularly proud to have helped so many students in becoming better learners and attaining a better grasp of social etiquette. As a computer programmer, she was also lauded for her work in designing and writing effective programs for multiple departments. Looking ahead, Ms. Morrey aims to stay healthy, maintain her circle of friends, and keep active for the foreseeable future. SANDRA L.
