He is also proud of becoming a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Counselors of Real Estate, where he once served as the Midwest chapter president. Looking to the future, Mr. DeClark endeavors to continue working, progressing himself in both business and personal growth. He enjoys music and drumming, in which he has had a life-long pursuit. He has also held an interest in teaching for many years, having served as a guest lecturer at DePaul University’s Graduate School of Business and taught real estate appraisal theory to undergraduates and extension students at Northwestern University. In the coming years, he hopes to be able to teach again. To disseminate his knowledge and experience to emerging professionals, Mr. DeClark has been writing articles for industry journals, and he plans to continue doing so moving forward. A real estate appraiser, broker and executive, Gary K. DeClark celebrates over 40 years of success in the field. He began his vocational journey by pursuing a higher education, earning a BS in finance at the University of Illinois and an MA in real estate and urban development at the University of Georgia Terry College of Business. Afterward, he became an assistant vice president of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Appraisal Services Inc. Later, he founded Realty Consultants, USA, Inc., operating as the company’s president and chief executive officer and merging it into Integra Realty Resources Inc., a company he helped launch nationally. He then served as the managing director of Integra’s Chicago office for 14 years. Mr. DeClark later became the senior vice president of the Chicago office of Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis before moving into the senior managing director position of Valbridge Property Advisors Inc. in Chicago. Recently, he became the president of specialty valuation and litigation support for Standard Valuation Services.
