Polacek Jr. is the creative director of RoseBernard Studio, a design firm specializing in interiors, branding, and design for food, beverage, and hospitality industry clients. Inspired by the creativity and precision that his grandfather, a chef and master carpenter, taught him, Mr. Polacek earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the Catholic University of America. He began his career as a designer for Rockwell Architecture and Robert A.M Stern Architects, rising to become a project architect for the firm before his departure in 2002. That year, Mr. Polacek became a partner in the Puccini Group, where he acted as chief creative officer for the entirety of his 17-year tenure. Known for his canny and sensitive understanding of how built environments and their users interact and a desire to challenge existing norms and design standards, Mr. Polacek has worked with hospitality industry clients worldwide on art direction, brand and identity design, interior design, and communications. Since 2019, he has offered clients his expertise as a partner of RoseBernard Studio. His portfolio includes an innovative retail concept in Macao developed in tandem with the owner and her daughter. Recognized as a leader in modern hospitality design and part of the future of the sector, he sits on the advisory board of Hospitality Design Magazine and is a longtime member of NEWH. Mr. Polacek credits his success to the support and direction of his creative mentors, his core values, and his ability to center the user in his designs, and he hopes to continue his work as RoseBernard Studio’s creative director in a hands-on, clientfacing capacity.
