48 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine Rowe “Sandy” Sanderson III has served as the owner of Green Energy West LLC since 2009. Well-regarded for excellence in agriculture and real estate development, he originally began his career working in the insurance industry, shortly after graduating from the University of Southern California (USC) with a BS in marketing management in 1964. Three years after entering the insurance field, Mr. Sanderson began a real estate business, through which he developed over 40 single-family detached housing projects in Mammoth Lakes, San Juan Capistrano, Escondido, and the North San Diego County region in California. Over time, Mr. Sanderson’s business expanded internationally to encompass wind farm operations in Ireland and various resort hotels in Southeast Asia. Adjacent to his accomplishments in real estate development, Mr. Sanderson has also found success in the field of agriculture. At 37, he fulfilled a long-held dream of owning his own wheat farm in Oregon, after which he ventured into an apple-cultivating business. At the height of operations, the Sanderson and Knutson Fruit Company employed more than 300 workers in their warehouse and boasted over 4,000 acres of fruit trees. Dovetailing with his work in real estate, Mr. Sanderson is proud to have opened new markets for the apple industry using his shrink-wrapped products, utilizing cryovac technology to ship fruit to various vendors, including Southland, United Airlines and Marriott Hotels. Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Sanderson remains active at his local YMCA, as well as his regional chapter of Rotary International. During his collegiate studies, he was also recognized as a member of the Trojan Knights, an American service and spirit organization dedicated to upholding the traditions of USC. Outside of his professional and civil pursuits, Mr. Sanderson enjoys quality time spent with his family, as well as hunting, fishing and traveling. Attributing his success to his dedicated work ethic, he aspires to continue expanding the scope of operations at his company in the coming years.
