81 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT faux stone, wood graining and gold leaf. Known for her consideration and patient execution, Ms. Cordes has proudly developed a loyal and fruitful clientele over the course of three decades. Among the most noteworthy projects she has undertaken, Ms. Cordes was particularly challenged by a three-story building in downtown Boston. Located next to the Boston Opera House, the empty arcade needed a facelift to improve its appearance on the block. Ms. Cordes was approached by the management to paint faux windows in place of the boarded-up windows, a job she accomplished with great success thanks to the assistance of two fellow artists. Prior to her current endeavors, Ms. Cordes spent nine years working for Bopas, a company based in Boston specializing in decorative painting and finishes. During her time there, she gained valuable knowledge of various techniques. When her son began attending kindergarten, she decided to start her own business, thus providing her with a more flexible schedule. Since then, she has taken on projects both large and small — contemporary and historic — with a team of decorative painters. Ms. Cordes studied at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1978. Looking to the future, she hopes to create more murals and similar pieces in the next five years. Likewise, she aspires to engage with more specialty projects and explore her interest in fine art painting. Leveraging over 30 years of experience in interior finishes, Annie Cordes has earned a laudable reputation through her work as a decorative painter. Collaborating with a number of clients and designers throughout the greater Boston region, her area of expertise largely resides in decorative wall glazing, trompe l’oeil, murals, ANNIE CORDES OWNER Annie Cordes Decorative Painting Salem, MA
