82 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT An author and Episcopal deacon, Ellen L. Ekstrom has accumulated over four decades of success. Since 1982, she has worked as a legal secretary for various law firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. In pursuit of a formal education, she earned a Bachelor of Theological Studies, with a concentration in Christian mythos and subspecialty in Christian ethics, at the Episcopal School for Deacons in 2002. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Ekstrom became an ordained deacon with the Episcopal Church. As a deacon, she served at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church from 2002 to 2016. Having maintained her passion for writing since childhood, Ms. Ekstrom wrote several short stories and novels, gaining a following of around 500 readers. She began her writing career at Central Avenue Publishing LLC before opening her own firm, Whyte Rose & Violet, Scribes, in 2013. Her published titles include “Armor of Light,” “Tallis’ Third Tune” and “Scarborough: Quinn’s Story,” and her most recent novel, “George of Grasmere,” was released in April 2024. For her works, she was recognized by Writers Digest Magazine and won third place in the Romance Writers Oklahoma Digital Book Awards. Of all her works, Ms. Ekstrom considers “Tallis’ Third Tune” to be her strongest work; this novel in the stet genre details the lives of two individuals who meet in the 1960s and their subsequent, entwined narratives. Inspired by events in her own life, the book holds a special place in her heart. While it is a departure from her usual subject matter — medieval fantasy and fairytales — it proved to be an interesting and exciting project for both herself and her readers. In the coming years, Ms. Ekstrom plans to continue writing and dedicating more time to parish ministry. ELLEN L. EKSTROM OWNER Whyte Rose & Violet, Scribes Berkeley, CA
