Such events often follow old Wild West traditions, depicting events as far back as 1833. Mr. Mortensen has otherwise excelled as an actor in independent films and with other various reenactment organizations since 1990. Prior to beginning his vocational journey, Mr. Mortensen honorably served in the United States Navy for four years, primarily stationed in Vietnam. He also pursued his formal education, studying motion picture operations and electrical installations on Navy ships and Higgins landing craft in the 1960s. After retiring from the Navy in 1968, he completed pertinent coursework in soil science and English at the University of Nevada, Reno in 1971, all while also working as a patrolman for the United States Forest Service to help fund his education. In addition to his academic studies, Mr. Mortensen also holds relevant Nevada state and Storey County business licenses. As part of his work in the field, Mr. Mortensen is particularly well-known for his portrayals as the stagecoach and train robber, Jack Davis, a role he has maintained throughout numerous occasions and events since 2010. Ever committed to his profession, he was an affiliate of the former Old West Living History Foundation and a docent for Virginia City Nevada, and he is a Patriot Life member of the National Rifle Association, which his company is also an affiliate member of. He has also won several gunfighting club competitions over the course of his career. Attributing much of his success to those around him, as well as his dedication to his craft, Mr. Mortensen is proud to have begun his own business, and he looks forward to finding further success with his brand in the coming years.
