99 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT were leading luminaries in the special effects industry. To learn from the best in the business, Mr. Simon moved to Los Angeles in 1993 and began working with some of the most talented artists in the field. Determined to work with those who could help him grow and improve his craft, Mr. Simon networked with a wide range of professionals before securing a job at a prestigious studio. He worked on several projects with Rick Baker, a renowned makeup and special effects artist; together, they won two Academy Awards for their work on “Men in Black” and “The Nutty Professor.” Mr. Simon subsequently contributed to several other productions, including “Escape from L.A.,” “Stuart Little,” “Supernova” and “Battlefield Earth.” He also served as a storyboard artist for films such as “Home of the Brave,” “Loveless in Los Angeles, “Feed the Fish,” “Sundown” and “#Realityhigh.” Mr. Simon attributes his success to his dedicated work ethic and relentless pursuit of his dreams. Looking to the future, he has set the goal of establishing a strong online presence in order to connect with and sell his work to a larger audience. Likewise, he intends to build a portfolio of work that is strong enough to attract the attention of a studio that can represent him. Joining Mr. Simon in the field of fine arts was his late wife, Kim, who served for over 25 years as the managing director of the USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education. An enduring advocate for the memory of the Holocaust, Ms. Simon coordinated more than 50,000 testimonies across the span of her career. In recognition of her work, she was bestowed with an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Colorado College in 2011. J oseph Yuss Simon has harbored a passion for illustration since coming of age. Following his graduation from the Fashion Institute of Technology, he worked as a freelance illustrator for several years.
