419 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition FINANCE AND INSURANCE Hugh Sawyer is an executive and entrepreneur offering clients a full suite of financial and performance coaching services as the founder and chief executive officer of SawyerOne Performance. Established in 2009, the company began as a consulting firm and quickly grew to include employee financial education workshops, online money coaching, and recruiting and placement services provided by a staff of credentialed financial advisors, c-suite executives, and more. Mr. Sawyer brings more than 45 years of industry expertise to his coaching and consulting practice, as well as a BBA in accounting from Roanoke College and an MS in financial planning from the College for Financial Planning. Mr. Sawyer began his career as a tax executive for Ernst & Young in 1978 and subsequently diversified his skills throughout the 1980s, moving into executive leadership roles with responsibilities including strategic planning and both talent and operations management. In 2004, he became a vice president of AXA Financial, where he would remain through 2008. During his time with the company, he was instrumental in the creation of a world-class financial planning business based in Atlanta, in addition to a sales coaching program in its New York office. Over the course of his career, Mr. Sawyer has served as chief financial officer to numerous companies in the construction, architecture and engineering sectors, and he is proud of his track record of success with each of them. He was named Investment Advisor Magazine’s 2004 Financial Advisor of the Year and has been active in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of CPAs for many years. He is also the author of a chapter in “Strictly Business,” a startup business education book produced by a collaborative group of attorneys, chief financial officers and certified public accountants. Mr. Sawyer is proud to have retained clients for the full duration of his career and has no current plans to retire, emphasizing that he will maintain his practice for as long as his health allows.
