454 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY Dr. Brad D. Nelson has contributed to military and government service for over 20 years. Today, he excels as the branch chief of the Clearance and Acquisition Support Division for the Air Force Installation Contracting Center of the United States Air Force at Scott Air Force Base. He advises air mobility command and enterprise sourcing squadrons on acquisition, regulatory and policy matters. Drawing from his experiences in management, leadership and contracting, he previously served in the U.S. Army, initially enlisting in 2000, commissioning as an Officer in 2003, and joining the Reserves in 2006. Deployed to Iraq in 2009 with the Army and Afghanistan in 2020 with the Air Force, Dr. Nelson played a pivotal role in planning and executing initiatives for troop withdrawals. For his efforts during both combat tours, he was awarded a Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Meritorious Service Medal. After exploring opportunities for contracting through the Army, he entered the U.S. Air Force in 2019 and was assigned to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he became a deputy division chief of contracting and a key leader in building and delivering the next generation of Air Force One aircraft. Dr. Nelson has also worked as a contracting officer and specialist for various government and private sector organizations, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, DARPA, Army Contracting Command, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Pretrial Service Agency for the District of Columbia. Likewise dedicated to civil service, he is a proud mentor and big brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and a board member of the communitybased nonprofit organization Arm & Arm Inc. in Arlington, Virginia. A published author, Dr. Nelson released “Pre-Deployment Guidebook from a Christian’s Perspective” in September 2023. Among his numerous academic credentials, he ultimately achieved a PhD from Capella University in 2017. A member of the National Contract Management Association as well, he is certified in numerous professional disciplines. Over the course of his life and career, he has attributed his accomplishments to God and his mother and grandparents, who instilled in him the values of faith, determination and resilience. BRAD D.
