Likewise, Dr. Jani counts on the support of her other two children, Raja Jani and Roma Jani, who work as a neurosurgeon and an engineer, respectively. Well-regarded for her vast contributions to both the field of health care and her community, Dr. Jani was hailed by Castle Connolly as a Top Doctor in 2012, and she was later bestowed with two Exceptional Women in Medicine Awards in 2019 and 2020. Looking toward the future, she aspires to continue her work toward building a model for providing adequate health care services to various communities, as well as overcoming the stigma of mental health issues. Once she has accomplished this, Dr. Jani intends to present that method to the American Psychiatric Society for review and possible adoption throughout the country. tenacity and perseverance, she eventually graduated as the first in her class at B. J. Medical College in Amedabad, India. Following this accomplishment, she subsequently studied adult psychiatry at Indiana University, where she earned her first MD in 1984. Dr. Jani went on to matriculate at Johns Hopkins University, from which she attained an MD in child psychiatry in 1987. Highly certified in her profession, she holds six board certifications in general psychiatry, child and adult psychiatry, pediatrics, addiction medicine, medical review and forensic medicine. She is also a fellow of both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Long dedicated to service on behalf of the underserved, Dr. Jani works with a number of food banks and homeless shelters throughout her area to sustain the livelihood of those who cannot afford basic amenities.
