Timothy James Mercaldo is a pastor, musician and faith-based consultant who has dedicated his career to helping churches implement engaging and community-building music and arts programs. Inspired by his father’s career as a church planner, he felt called to ministry as a teenager, and he subsequently began his career as an associate pastor at Gateway Church. In this position, he focused on the arts as a tool for worship until 2019. During his time ministering to the church’s congregation, Mr. Mercaldo rose to become a senior pastor and founded Gateway Community Outreach, a nonprofit service organization tied to the church. Drawing on his decades of experience as a faith leader and executive to religious organizations, Mr. Mercaldo entered the consulting space in 2019 with Impact Stewardship Resources. In 2022, he established Worship Plus, where he continues to support clergy and congregations in creating dynamic and authentic strategies for incorporating music ministry and creative leadership into their services and outreach efforts. Since 2023, Mr. Mercaldo has also consulted for Dwight Whitworth and Company LLC, specializing in music and arts staff recruitment for churches. Mr. Mercaldo holds a BA in theology and Koine Greek from the Moody Bible Institute, an interdisciplinary master’s degree in apologetics, leadership and religious studies from Liberty University, and a master’s degree in worship studies and leadership development from Trevecca Nazarene University. He considers his education foundational to his professional journey and hopes to begin doctoral studies in the coming years, with the goal of teaching at the undergraduate level or pursuing work in policy. In addition to consulting, Mr. Mercaldo continues to minister and maintain an active career in music performance at local venues, having recorded two Christmas albums. He credits his success to the support and mentorship that he has received throughout his journey, and he considers his wife, four daughters and nine grandchildren to be his greatest joy. REV.
