Bechtold has distinguished himself as a licensed funeral director. Currently, he operates with the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston, New Jersey. Honored with helping countless clients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, Mr. Bechtold is responsible for arranging and supervising funerals, as well as the preparing of the deceased. After earning a BFA in photography at the School of Visual Arts in 1981, Mr. Bechtold embarked on his second career in 1999, graduating from the American Academy McAllister Institute with honors and becoming an adjunct faculty member for over 19 years. During that time, he helped the school become computerized and built online courses, in addition to working as a licensed funeral director full-time. He is an appointed member of the New Jersey Board of Mortuary Science, and he was elected twice to serve as the board’s president, a testament to his leadership skills and dedication to the field. FUNERAL DIRECTOR Monroe Township, NJ Ever committed to community advocacy and engagement, Dawn Marie Bennett has earned acclaim as the executive director of the Northwest chapter of the African American Leadership Forum, a nonprofit organization seeking to eliminate racism and systemic inequality throughout the United States. In this role, she collaborates with a diverse team of African-American and Latino activists to address social and economic issues fueling the school-to-prison pipeline for multicultural youth. The organization also supports the LGBTQIA+ community in hopes of creating a more equitable future. Ms. Bennett is a co-founder of the Multicultural Education Rights Alliance, which works to bridge the divide between multicultural students and the educators who serve them. In her current roles, she draws on prior experience as a caseworker and gang prevention specialist for the city of Seattle and Seattle Public Schools. In accounting for her success, Ms. Bennett credits her unwavering commitment to uplifting all minority communities, many of whom have historically faced systemic barriers and pervasive injustice. Looking ahead, she aims to continue fighting to ensure that all employees within her organization are compensated fairly for their tireless work and advocacy.
