Mr. Weih comes from a family of culinary artists, with his mother having served as the head baker at the IBM Homestead in New York. Throughout his career, he has served numerous presidents and developed a collection of 1,000 cookbooks. He is skilled in preparing a wide variety of cuisines, and prior to his retirement in 2014, he took his students to New York City once a year to expose them to different cultures and inspire them to work with new ingredients and recipes. Looking to the future, Mr. Weih plans to create a food travel channel on YouTube featuring street food from Vietnam and other popular travel destinations. He is also in the process of writing a book. An accomplished chef and educator, Douglas G. Weih has dedicated himself to the culinary arts for decades. Having completed extensive studies in his field, he remains highly qualified, having earned an AOS in travel, tourism, culinary and baking at Jefferson Community College in 1983, an AOS in culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of America in 1994, and an AOS in baking and pastry from the Culinary Institute of America in 1995. Additionally, he is a classically trained Michelin chef, having worked under Chef Paul Bocuse and Chef Roger Verge in France. In 1995, Mr. Weih joined the faculty of Myers Park High School, serving as a chef instructor and contributing to the state culinary writing team, which included designing courses and writing questions for the entire state. During this time, he was the state president of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), a student-led organization for family consumer science classes, and he later became the president of the family consumer science teachers.
