246 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine BRANCH MANAGER Brooklyn Public Library New York, NY EDUCATION Dr. Anna R. Holloway enjoyed a fulfilling career in education for over 45 years. Specializing in literature and various forms of writing, she served as a professor of English at Fort Valley State University, rising to become the dean of graduate studies and extended education prior to her retirement in 2014. During her tenure at the university, Dr. Holloway oversaw the mass communications, technical writing and liberal studies programs. She taught composition, news and creative writing, and both business and technical communications. She was an early adopter of online instruction, working with the University of Georgia’s eCore. Many of these initiatives were widely recognized for their effectiveness. She takes pride in having served as advisor for the school’s creative writing club. Now retired, Dr. Holloway offers editing services through ARH Writing and Editing (annahollowaywrites.com). A poet and writer herself, she has contributed to literature through articles and papers on detective novels, with a particular focus on African American writers. In 2023, she published “Looking for Jazz: A Memoir about the Black College and Southern Town That Changed My Life,” and she is currently working on another memoir. James has served at the Brooklyn Public Library for over 20 years. As a branch manager for the organization’s Washington Irving Library, she is responsible for various clerical tasks, including programming on behalf of the branch, running surveys, budgetary management, program development, and supervising library staff members. Proud to have spearheaded efforts to enhance diversity in her field, Ms. James has also excelled as an intern and executive assistant to the director of the Burke Library at the Union Theological Seminary of Columbia University. Well-educated in her field, Ms. James holds a Master of Library Science from Long Island University. Likewise, she earned an associate degree in occupational studies at the Katharine Gibbs School and a Bachelor of Arts at St. John’s University. Among her most cherished accomplishments, she is particularly grateful for her opportunities to oversee various children’s activities, including Halloween parties and interactive games.
