His studio, Oregon Studio Group, is based in Southern Oregon and specializes in headshots, individual portraits, family photos, commercial photography and senior portraits. In the coming years, Mr. Neilson hopes to see Neilson Research Corporation continue to grow and provide quality customer service. Neilson Research Corporation is constantly evolving and adding to its capabilities, such as ultra-level mercury analysis. He is proud to have made the company a successful part of the community that contributes to environmental protection but plans to take a step back from active leadership in the near future, leaving the company in the capable hands of his daughter. Leveraging over four decades of experience, John Wilbert Tennant Neilson excels as the chief executive officer of Neilson Research Corporation. In his leadership position, he oversees the laboratory’s total operations and works with his daughter, the company president, to improve research progress. Additionally, he is the president and chief executive officer of Oregon Studio Group LLC, a photo studio business that he created in 2014. While in college, Mr. Neilson studied biology with an emphasis on microbiology, ultimately earning a master’s degree in education and biology at Southern Oregon University in 1972. He began teaching in high schools and community colleges, imparting his knowledge of biology. During this time, children were required to receive immunizations for typhoid fever before they could go swimming in local rivers. To negate the need for immunizations, he decided to test river water to ensure there was no typhoid present, allowing children of all ages to swim safely. He created a drinking water testing laboratory in his garage, which eventually expanded into Neilson Research Corporation, the largest laboratory in Oregon.
