371 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY Dr. Potenzone has used his background in scientific research to launch several entrepreneurial projects, establishing SciencePoint Solutions LLC in 2009 and cofounding Axiomedix Inc. in 2017. Since 2015, he has served as the chief operating officer for Ingentium Redmond. Early in his career, he worked for Chemical Abstracts, a branch of the American Chemical Society. While there, he and his team created SciFinder, an innovative tool designed to empower scientists to independently search through complex systems, eliminating the need for traditional library assistance and addressing an unmet need for accessible and self-directed research tools. In 1996, R&D Magazine presented him with the R&D 100 Award for his work on SciFinder. In addition to his independent ventures, Dr. Potenzone is involved in marketing and outreach for the International Chemical Identifier Trust and serves on its board. He also offers advice as a business mentor with the University of Washington and has organized numerous American Chemical Society Symposium sessions. In the future, Dr. Potenzone aims to remain engaged in his field and to seek out new projects where he can make a meaningful impact. He will continue to explore novel methods for representing molecules and pioneering new uses in cheminformatics. As he approaches retirement, he plans to give back to the academic community by pursuing opportunities in teaching and extending the use of InChI. For 51 years, Dr. Rudy Potenzone has pursued new and innovative endeavors to revolutionize chemistry. He holds a BS in biophysics from the University of Pittsburgh and pursued postgraduate study at Case Western Reserve University, earning both an MS and PhD in macromolecular science.
