Blodgett celebrates over four decades of success in the fields of geology and paleontology. To wit, he has excelled in independent practice as a geologist and paleontologist for nearly 30 years. Dr. Blodgett is best known for establishing the Alaska paleontological database, the only government-funded online geological specimen database in the United States, which comprises more than 25,000 localities. Dr. Blodgett was a pioneer in Alaskan geology, having led numerous studies on Alaskan accreted terranes confirming geological similarities to Siberian terranes, suggesting their origin from Siberia, and in addition to identifying other new geological features.
