267 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Antony J. Arumairaj is a physician and educator who has dedicated his career to serving patients for more than 15 years. Born in India, he earned an MBBS at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in 2005 and completed a residency in anesthesiology at Stanley Medical College. Driven to pursue a career in medicine by a desire to help others, he was drawn to critical care medicine and strove to gain as much experience as possible in order to develop as a provider. In 2009, Dr. Arumairaj relocated to Australia, where he completed additional training in emergency medicine and internal medicine. After nine years of practice in Australia, he moved to the United States, earning an MD from New York Medical College before becoming an attending physician for New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. Since 2021, Dr. Arumairaj has been a clinical assistant professor of medicine at New York Medical College in addition to his work with patients, building on a teaching career that began while he was still in Australia. He also serves as the director of research in the college’s internal medicine program. Dr. Arumairaj aims to complete a fellowship in pulmonary critical care and looks forward to joining the staff of a major research hospital in the coming years. He has published extensively as part of several large-scale research efforts in India, Australia, and the United States, and earned an early reputation for scientific rigor as a researcher for the Indian Council of Medical Research. He credits his success to the support of his family and advises others interested in medicine to cultivate empathy for their patients, a lifelong learning ethos, and a desire to share knowledge with peers and students.
