As a master social worker with Centene Corporation, she acts as a long-term case manager and provides services to clients such as managing day-to-day activities and ensuring the safety of the client’s home. Prior to her current position, she spent nine years as a master social worker at the Bay Medical Center and two years as a case manager at the Capital Area Community Action Agency. She holds a master’s degree in clinical and medical social work from Florida State University. Ms. Kelly credits her success to her life experiences, particularly her work with people with disabilities. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and her husband was diagnosed with cancer. Because of this, Ms. Kelly understands the challenges of being a caregiver while having a medical condition that affects her own self-care. Through her experiences, she better relates to her clients, allowing her to anticipate needs and provide empathetic support. Ms. Kelly has had the opportunity to work with many amazing people throughout her career. One highlight that stands out to her is a single mother paralyzed from the neck down in an automobile accident. This patient was struggling when Ms. Kelly began seeing her, but after ten years in Ms. Kelly’s care, she was able to return to work and experience the world without barriers, even going skydiving. Looking to the future, Ms. Kelly hopes to push for a change in the way health care is provided. She believes caring for others should be prioritized over efficiency or financial gain.
